At over 24,000 square ft BodyWorld Plymouth is the largest gym in the South West.

We’ve created an environment where we are able to offer a premium gym experience to people of all fitness levels. We’re big on creating a community within our gym, and want all Bodyworld members to feel welcome and wanted. Our floor staff are all trained to ensure they can offer advice to anyone who wants guidance.

We offer a wide range of classes starting in November, we have three studios and a dedicated functional area, as well as treatment rooms and ample onsite parking. We are a COVID-19 secure gym, our equipment is spaced 2m apart from one another allowing you to have a safe workout.

There is a wide range of specialist equipment from brands such as Nautilus, Stairmaster, Watson, Throwdown, Schwinn, StarTrac, and Concept 2.

We will continue to strive to improve, support and grow so that we provide access to our training facilities and community to as many people was possible.

MAX GREENhalgh

MANAGER

I have been lucky enough to be a part of the BodyWorld team since 2017, enjoying a great 2 and a half years at our Taunton site before making the move down to Plymouth.

Prior to working at BodyWorld, I combined my studies (FdSc Sports Science with Coaching) with 4 years of work in a GP Referral clinic as a Fitness Instructor and PT, giving me a depth of knowledge and great experience in rehabilitation and recovery from injuries, operations, and other ailments. I have worked with ages 4 to 94, with a variety of goals, from complete beginners to professional athletes.

Feel free to grab me on the gym floor and fire away any questions that you may have, I will do my best to help and advise, or point you the direction of somebody who can.

Hi, I am Ryan!

I’ve have been in the fitness industry in one form or another since 2010, from helping people with their nutrition, to personal training and coaching. I have qualifications in sports nutrition, advanced training techniques, and behavioral change. My background is in bodybuilding, focusing on optimal training and nutrition habits as well as mindset and lifestyle. Working with people from many walks of life, from office workers to bodybuilding competitors and marathon runners.

Before joining the team at BodyWorld I was a Royal Marines Commando having served over 10 years, I have travelled extensively, lived in several countries, and trained in many different environments.

If you have got any questions at all then do not hesitate to grab me in the gym and I will be more than happy to help. If you are looking to improve your training, nutrition, habits, and lifestyle – Then give me a shout.

INDRA CALIN

FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Hi everyone, I’m Indra. I am a Fitness Instructor here at Bodyworld, I teach Spin Classes and Legs Bums & Tums.

I discovered my passion for helping people after starting to go to the gym and experiencing myself what a positive effect a proper training routine and good nutrition habits have on the human body and mind. This motivated me to get the qualifications needed to work in this industry to help as many females to get strong, look their best whilst eating their favourite foods (and not fearing carbohydrates).

My goal is to have the most positive impact on the lives of the people that I work with; helping them become the happiest and most confident version of themselves.

I am always available for a chat or to answer any questions you may have, or at least point you in the right direction.

Hi, I’m Emily!

I’m in my final year of studying BSc Sports Therapy at University. While studying I have gained a greater understanding and knowledge of the rehabilitation processes used to facilitate individuals back to maximum strength and fitness, additionally gaining my PT Level 3 qualification. Within my university experience I have had the chance to work within both sporting and clinical environments, having the opportunity to work with various football clubs rehabilitating their athletes back to their optimum levels.

I am also currently running my own sports therapy business, creating online videos focusing on rehabilitation and prehabilitation strategies as well as strengthening techniques that can be used when training within the gym.

If anyone has any queries or concerns, don’t hesitate to grab me, so we can enhance your gym experience and help fix any injuries that you may have.

Our aim is to ensure that we get to the root of whatever is causing your discomfort, whilst treating the problem/s and optimising your future performance.

Our BSc (Hons) Sports Therapist, Brooke, is a member of the Society of Sports Therapists – today’s leading organisation in the UK that monitors its members to guarantee a high quality of service when assessing and treating clients.

Brooke can offer a variety of treatments that include manual therapy, sports massage, dry myofascial cupping, and sports taping. Additionally, she will educate you on and emphasise the importance of exercise-based rehabilitation.

Each session is tailored to you and will involve a movement-based analysis, followed by the treatment and rehabilitation that we believe is best suited for you.

NINA VALENTINE

GYM ASSISTANT

Hi, I am Nina. I am a Gym assistant and Spin Instructor here at Bodyworld Plymouth.

My love for training came from my Mums background in competitive Powerlifting when she opened a gym in the 80s. She inspired me to want to be a strong female and challenge myself in all aspects of life. I have been weight training for 8 years. I took an interest in bodybuilding a few years ago, when I went to watch one of my friends compete, I was in awe at how people could transform their bodies in such a way and the time and discipline it took to get there really awoke a passion in me to see what I am capable of. I plan to Compete soon, and I am lucky enough to work and train in the best gym in the south west with the most supportive team to encourage me every step of the way.

I have not always been very confident in a gym environment; it can be daunting starting out and not knowing a thing about training and for an anxious person like me it was a struggle. Once I educated myself on how to perform exercises correctly and I consistently showed up to the gym, my confidence grew! With that, my mental health also improved massively, and it is a huge reason why I made training an integral part of my lifestyle.

I eat a predominantly plant-based diet. I am a massive foodie too.

WE'RE BACK - BOOK NOW!

The government has now agreed to the next step in their strategy of easing lock down measures with effect from July 4th 2020. This latest step permits Gym’s to re-open as long as guidance is followed and certain safety restrictions are put in place to protect customers. 

Bodyworld Taunton is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our customers. We will be re-opening the gym on xxxxx under strict operating procedures. This will include, hourly training sessions, a one-way direction within the gym to maintain social distancing and a 30 minute safety period between sessions to allow staff to undertake cleaning and other measures to keep our customers safe.

In order to maintain social distancing and to operate a fair procedure to welcome customers back to the gym, we will be offering x,  1 hour training sessions each day with a limited number of customers allowed per training session. Access to these sessions will be via Online Booking ONLY and if you have not booked your training session and you arrive at the gym, you will not be permitted to train.

Online Booking will operate on a first come, first served basis. We will be offering priority booking to current DD members but we will make sure there are spaces for PAYG members, especially those who had time left on their PAYG membership when lock down own began.
